Marybeth Everhart

Marybeth Everhart, RPR, CRI, has been reporting since 1980 and writing realtime since 1992. She has been a freelance reporter in the Baltimore-Washington area; an official reporter in Brisbane, Australia; provided CART services to such organizations as Self Help for Hard of Hearing and the Neurofibromatosis Foundation; captioned for Gallaudet University; managed a large, multi-office freelance firm; taught court reporting at all levels; and trained on numerous CAT systems over the years. Marybeth has been a certified advanced trainer for Eclipse since 1994 and has presented hundreds of seminars and trainings on dozens of Eclipse-related topics.

She is now the National Marketing Manager for Realtime Coach and works closely with reporting schools, firms, and court systems to increase speed and improve accuracy for students and working reporters. She has served as a member of the NCRA Future Group, the NCRA Reporter Education Commission, the Council on Approved Student Education, and the Maryland Court Reporters Association Education Committee. Marybeth currently serves as a contributing editor to the Journal of Court Reporting and the Eclipse Users Group Newscache.

Though her experience and credentials are certainly noteworthy, anyone who has attended one of Marybeth’s seminars will tell you she is one of the best speakers ever to pick up a microphone. She knows her subject material thoroughly, of course, but she brings a terrific sense of humor to the podium as well. She interacts continually with her audiences and keeps everyone entertained as she teaches. Ask anyone who has attended one of her seminars. They’ll tell you they learned a lot and had a great time!

They'll show you apps that simplify the process and you can use them on the fly, as you are racking up those charges. Use your smartphone to scan business cards and documents quickly and easily. Use an app to deliver transcript to your clients. And learn how to use Google Sync to handle messaging, scheduling, mapping, voicemail, and more.

Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP
Live Webinar Date: Oct 29th, 2009

We have finally reached the long-awaited release of Windows 7. This event has inspired lots of press coverage and confident proclamations by Microsoft, which is all too happy to step away from Vista, the operating system everyone loves to hate, especially the folks over at Apple. The release of a new version of Windows is always a seminal moment for court reporters because it runs our CAT software. Windows isn't always a gracious host (think of program freezes, Blue Screens of Death, failed connections, and so on), so this event has also inspired considerable curiosity and anxiety on the part of our clients as they look at new computers loaded with "7" (its shorthand name) and as they contemplate their own versions of Windows.

Scott and his panelists are going to talk some about Windows 7, but its release prompts us to spend most of our time on Windows, in general, and the features or settings within it. Here are some of the topics he'll cover, topics that affect you as a court reporter and which will help you understand Windows better and get more out of it.

Be Ready When The Test Comes - Part 1
Live Webinar Date: Sep 3rd, 2009
Registration for this webinar is currently OPEN - click here for more info

Marybeth is going to begin by covering the rules and testing procedures for the skills exams, covering them test-by-test since your preparation will vary accordingly. She'll also talk about how NCRA grades each skills exam and cover the categories of errors, both important things to know as you prepare and practice.

But knowing what you'll confront in the Certification Test Center is only part of the solution. It is also crucial to know your CAT software and to take full advantage of its features. For example, those who struggle with numbers should explore the automatic number conversion features and make the appropriate settings or dictionary entries.

There are many features in modern CAT software that can assist reporters who struggle with conflicts, punctuation, and word building (prefixes and suffixes). Even more impressive, some of the newest CAT programs have a feature that suggests briefs automatically, briefs you can use on-the-fly. Finally, one CAT software has added a feature that can correctly translate words and phrases that are incorrectly written (but are in your dictionary) and can even correctly translate words that aren't in your dictionary, words you have never written before.

Raise Your Pay & Reclaim Your Life with Realtime Coach - Part 1
Live Webinar Date: Feb 19th, 2009
Registration for this webinar is currently OPEN - click here for more info

Reporters all know this: The best work yielding the highest pay goes to reporters who provide realtime or expedited services. This is understandable since they require an advanced skill level and, in general, clients pay more for them. Also, many reporters work for firms or courthouses within which there are pay differentials; those holding specified NCRA certifications earn more. The Federal court system, for example, rewards reporters holding certain certifications with higher pay grades. Many private firms do something similar by paying a higher page rate or offering other benefits.

This webinar suite can help you escape that purgatory. Marybeth will explore a revolutionary technology that makes it possible for you to improve your writing skills, get better accuracy, and resolve issues in your writing style. It eliminates the need to continually search out appropriate dictation material and it analyzes your writing for you. That probably sounds too good to be true but it's not. This technology is called Realtime Coach and it's so powerful it is embraced by the National Court Reporting Association and an unlimited trial version is available free to every NCRA member.

Live Webinar Date: Dec 16th, 2008

If you've ever been baffled by the technologies you must manage and deploy, you're not alone. Most court reporters are not technologists by inclination or training, yet every reporter must choose and rely on hardware and software that can be confusing and difficult. This webinar will help you chase away this demon as Marybeth breaks down the equipment and software you need, how to select it, where to get it, and, most important of all, how to get help if you have problems.

Realtime Coach: A Revolutionary Way to Improve Your Reporting Skills
Live Webinar Date: Sep 30th, 2008

Marybeth will explore a revolutionary technology that makes it possible for you to improve your writing skills, get better accuracy, and resolve issues in your writing style. It eliminates the need to continually search out appropriate dictation material and it analyzes your writing for you. That probably sounds too good to be true – but it’s not. This technology is so powerful it is embraced by the National Court Reporting Association and an unlimited trial version is available free to every NCRA member.

It’s called Realtime Coach™, but don’t be misled by the word "realtime” in the name. It is not a regimen designed to make every reporter a realtime reporter, though you may become one as a result of its benefits. Instead, you are connected to an online service as you write material streamed directly to your computer, which means that, by definition, you are writing them in realtime.

Step One: Identifying The Demons!
Live Webinar Date: Sep 4th, 2008

Marybeth is going to launch this new series with a webinar that takes an in-depth look at the day-to-day challenges reporters confront. How much are you really earning per hour and why? How many of those hours are spent productively and how many are spent unproductively? What are your work processes and which ones are efficient and which are not? Are you using the appropriate technologies based upon the type of reporting you're doing, or could be doing?

She will show you how to maximize your time, work more efficiently, write faster and more accurately, and how to earn more in the process. She'll talk about technologies that can assist you and where to get them.

If you're a court reporter and you're feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and buried, this is a webinar you should plan to attend. Marybeth is going to hand you a shovel and show you how to dig your way out!
